I Have to Speak Up

There is a dark, dark reality happening right before our eyes in the world right now and I feel compelled to speak on my position of it all. This blog is typically a place for me to celebrate the more lovely parts of life, but I simply can't, in good conscience, ignore what is happening.
I am fully against genocide.
I am fully against racism.
I am fully against oppression, in all its forms.
I am fully against misogyny, coercion, manipulation, lying, and obsession with money, power, and control.
I support societal systems that support the inherent worth of all humans.
I support a democratic government that is full of wisdom and compassion and I support systems and people who do the work to create such a government.
I recognize that humans will never agree on everything and that it will always be necessary to consider nuance when building a just and noble society, but I will never support an extreme government that is willing to completely disregard the basic human rights and dignity of all people.
It is not ok.
What is happening in my country right now is appalling and I want it on the record that I do not support any of it.
With love,
from Julia

A note about inspirational quotes: I've noticed that inspirational quotes don't always apply to me when I'm in survival mode or other states of being, like in times of rest or when things are out of my control. This is why I always check in with myself before taking in the messages. If a quote doesn't feel applicable to me in the moment, I simply ignore it and remind myself that not everything applies to me all the time.
A note about my social values: I recognize that not every person has access to the resources needed to be able to cultivate a life of peace, beauty, and joy, which is why I will always support systems and people who are doing the work to move toward a world that supports the basic needs and rights of all people. I believe that "the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members." - Gandhi
