The Week After Christmas

The week after Christmas is always a bit difficult for me. There's just something about the transition that makes me feel a little sad.

I don't know, maybe it's the fact that all the glittery ribbon and white twinkle lights have been put away and the cheesy Christmas songs have been silenced for the next eleven months.

This year, I decided to take down my Christmas decorations the day after Christmas and while I'm glad I did that, I'll admit that I am disappointed with the emptiness I feel. I guess I could leave them up a bit longer, but I don't really like to have them up after Christmas. It always just feels like a necessary job that needs to be done.

It just is what it is.

I'll have to add some more joy and sparkle in other ways.

Today, I decided to put on my bright green hat and pink scarf for our midday walk, which helped lift my spirits a bit.

Dopamine dressing always seems to do that for me.

Here's to finding ways to add some new magic after the holidays have come and gone!

With love,

from Julia

A note about my social values: I recognize that not every person has access to the resources needed to be able to cultivate a life of peace, beauty, and joy, which is why I will always support systems and people who are doing the work to move toward a world that supports the basic needs and rights of all people. I believe that "the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members." - Gandhi
